Why Do The Domestic Abuse Victims Find It Difficult To Leave Their Abuser
Domestic crimes against humanity are increasing across our society. The more advanced and educated we are getting, the more abusive our behavior becomes against human beings and people around us. A statistical survey by a Las Vegas domestic abuse lawyer revealed some breathtaking numbers in this aspect. The Las Vegas domestic violence lawyer states that:
• Every one in four women is or has been a victim of such abuse.
• All over the US, at least one instance of such violence is registered per minute.
• On a weekly average, two of such victims are murdered by their partner.
Shocking as it may sound, yet still a large number of cases which never even get registered. It is understandable that women are weaker and can’t properly defend themselves against their abusers. There are several social welfare organizations that are trying their to set free such victims from their toturous homes. Although, one fact that is more shocking is that many of the victims don’t want to file a case or testify against their culprits. Most of them silently spend their whole lives with such abusive life partners.
There are several rationale behind this general behavior in women. We must understand that such victims are already under too much psychological stress. Most of them are too indecisive and insecure to trust even their own selves. Addingly, there are also many other factors behind this weird and illogical decision of living with such a husband.
Firstly it’s ‘fear’. it can be highly situational:
• Sometimes the abuser threatens to harm the woman more if she attemptes to leave. He can threaten to kill himself or their kids.
• The fear of left out alone and not anle enough to raise the kids. most of these women lack proper education and skills to earn for themselves and their family.
• In many love marriages, women bear all the abuses just because they don’t want a person who said ‘It won’t work out’ to be proven right
• At times other family members, neighbors and community members are not at her side, and the woman fears being rejected. In many undeveloped countries, women without husbands have no respectable place in society. Hence, the women are made to live behind the bars of their domestic torture cell.
Then there is the emotional aspect.
• In case of a handicapped or sick spouse, women think of it as their utmost responsibility to stay with their sick or ill spouse despite his constant abuses.
• Women also think that they can help their partner get out of the psychological state they are in, therefore stay there in wait of apparent improvement.
• Most of violent husbands are not always on an voilent side. They can also be very nice at times, thus making women forget all their bruises and wounds.
• Many times women don’t leave because they think that it is their own mistake, and lack of abilities to deserve the abuse.
• Sometimes victim are not able to forget old romantic memories of their honeymoon and after marriage days, therefore fail to leave a person who once was so loving.
