Lake Mead is the biggest reservoir in the United States and is so big that there are several marinas located on it. Hiking is obviously a big activity at Red Rocks as is biking. Many people enjoy the loop road on their bikes is a one way loop that takes you through some gorgeous scenery. Rock climbing is also a great activity to do here and if you wish to stay in the outdoors, they also have campsites there.
The Las Vegas area has become a popular spot to host triathlons of every distance. The perfect year round climate, the nearby Lake Mead and the fun of Las Vegas draw many triathletes here to compete in a race. The hardest triathlon there is called The Silverman Triathlon and is a full Ironman distance as well as a half and is found to be quite difficult traveling across the desert and into higher elevations too.
